Abstract

The study “Standardization of Nano Urea and Composition of Potting Media on Growth and Quality of Philodendron scandens” was conducted at the PG Research Block, College of Horticulture, Mojerla, SKLTSHU, during December 2021 to May 2022. A factorial randomized block design (FRBD) with two factors; six levels of nitrogen (N?: control, N?: conventional urea 2 g L?¹, N?-N?: Nano urea 0.5-2.0 ml L?¹) and four potting media compositions (M?: Red Earth, M?: Red Earth + Cocopeat 1:1, M?: Red Earth + Cocopeat + FYM 1:1:1, M?: Red Earth + Cocopeat + FYM 2:1:1) was used. Observations on growth, phenology, physiological, biochemical, and quality parameters were recorded. Results revealed that Nano urea at 2 ml L?¹ (N?) significantly enhanced plant height, leaf number, leaf area, chlorophyll content, relative water content, ascorbic acid, leaf pH, and air pollution tolerance index (APTI). Among potting media, M? (Red Earth + Cocopeat + FYM, 1:1:1) produced the tallest plants, highest leaf number, and rapid bud sprouting due to improved water retention, aeration, and nutrient availability. The interaction of N? × M? consistently resulted in maximum vegetative growth and physiological efficiency. The study concludes that foliar application of Nano urea at 2 ml L?¹ combined with an enriched potting media of Red Earth, Cocopeat, and FYM (1:1:1) is optimal for sustainable production of Philodendron scandens, improving both ornamental quality and air pollution tolerance.
