Factors affecting career choice of students: Mediating role of perceived job environment
Abstract
The purpose of the current study is to identify how students’ personal and social factors influence their career choice decision, and to determine how this has been mediated by the perceived job environment. Data collected from 312 university students has been evaluated. The results find that personal factors have a significant direct influence on the student’s career choice decision. Moreover, perceived job environmental factors mediate the association between personal and social factors and student career preferences. The findings will influence the organizations in selecting an appropriate strategy for human resources managers and the academicians in coaching the university students for their career selection.
