Abstract

This empirical study investigates Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) impact on employee engagement and retention in Indian fintech firms. Data from 258 employees and 27 HR professionals across 20 firms were analyzed using mixed methods. SPSS analysis revealed significant positive relationships between GHRM and engagement (r = 0.423, p < 0.001) and retention (r = 0.391, p < 0.001). Multiple regression showed environmental training (β = 0.234), organizational commitment (β = 0.198), and value alignment (β = 0.187) as significant predictors explaining 54.1% of engagement variance. ANOVA confirmed lower turnover in high-GHRM firms (12.3%) versus low-GHRM firms (24.1%, p < 0.001). Qualitative analysis identified green employer branding, cultural alignment, and organizational pride as key retention drivers. Findings extend Social Exchange, Person-Organization Fit, and Self-Determination theories into green HRM contexts, offering actionable strategies for fintech managers.
