Improving Data Security in Cloud Storage Services
Abstract
With the?rapid growth of cloud computing, cloud storage services plays an important role for users (individuals or organizations) to remotely store and retrieve data. Nevertheless, the growing adoption on cloud platforms has brought some significant privacy, integrity, and availability issues of private data hosted in?them. This study is directed toward the much-required problem of data?security with in-cloud storage and focuses on the vulnerabilities, such as unauthorized access, data breaches, and weak encryption techniques. To mitigate these challenges.the paper?recommends a hybrid security model using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES encryption) along two-factor authentication (2FA) and secure key management methods. A lightweight prototype based on Python is implemented to demonstrate?client-side encryption before cloud upload, in such a way that even after the cloud server is compromised the data will still be secure. The strategy involves the performance comparability in regard to encryptions, and user accessibility, and security testing to the common attack vectors. The preliminary findings suggest that the solution enhances information and access control and confidentiality with a limited number of additional computational costs. The work contributes to the current work in the field of the safe storage of information in the cloud and provides the application-specific information to the developers, IT specialists, and end-users who wish to improve the security of clouds.
