Architectural Patterns for Building Secure High-Load APIs on Node.js Using REST, gRPC, and GraphQL
Abstract
The article examines the architecture of secure and high-load APIs developed with the Node.js platform and the REST, gRPC, and GraphQL technologies. It analyzes architectural patterns such as API Gateway, BFF, CQRS, and Strangler Fig, highlighting their role in ensuring system scalability, fault tolerance, and modularity. The importance of selecting an appropriate interaction model based on load context and security requirements is emphasized. A comparative analysis of REST, gRPC, and GraphQL is provided, focusing on performance, contract strictness, and access control characteristics. The paper discusses API protection methods including authentication, authorization, anomaly detection, and monitoring. A systemic approach to API interface design is underscored as essential for modern distributed infrastructures.
