Comparison of drug coated balloon and drug eluting stent for de novo small coronary vessel disease lesions
Abstract
Background: Revolutionary therapeutic approach, the drug-coated balloon (DCB) was initially introduced to address restenosis rates of bare-metal and drug-eluting stents (DES)..It has been researched and employed in clinical settings due to its lack of residue. This study aimed to provide a comparison between DCB and DES for treatment of de novo small coronary vessel disease lesions (d-SVD) with a brief follow-up period. Methods: This prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted at Benha University Hospital and National Heart Institute and enrolled 100 patients with d-SVD, stable angina, and suspected coronary artery disease. Each patient was assigned to one of two equal groups:.Patients in Group I (DCB) were administered DCB, while those in Group II (DES) were administered DES. Results: Device length and scoring/cutting balloon were insignificantly different between the studied groups. Post dilatation was significantly increase in DES group than DCB group (P value
