Standards for forming a Muslim family and selecting spouses in Islam: A foundational study
Abstract
The researcher, in this paper attempts to clarify the basic Islamic legal requirements in the formation of a Muslim family and choice of spouses, basing on the religious texts and the law. The paper discusses the factors that should be used when choosing a partner in life and the negative consequences of a poor decision. It also provides practical suggestions to enhance family and societal stability such as empowerment of Islamic guidance centers and further development of family counseling programs.
