Self-motivation and its contribution to the dimensions of artificial intelligence among fourth-year students in the college of physical education and sports sciences
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to identify the relationship between self-motivation and its contribution to the dimensions of artificial intelligence among fourth-year students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, according to the rapid expansion of smart technologies in higher education and the accompanying variation in students' attitudes towards these technologies. The researcher adopted a descriptive approach using both correlational and predictive methods, as it is suitable for the nature of the research objectives. The sample of the study comprises 96 senior students who were chosen by means of the census. A self-motivation scale and an attitudes towards AI tools scale were employed in the research for its dimensions (positive attitude, negative attitude, academic use). After establishing the psychometric proprieties of the scales, data were statistically processed through correlation and linear regression techniques. The findings revealed that there is a statistically positive relationship between those respondents’ willingness and attitude toward artificial intelligence, the attitudes which were proved being significantly associated with their self-motivation. On the other hand, there was a significant negative correlation between self-motivation and negative attitude toward using these devices. The regression analysis provided evidence that self-motivation is a significant predictor of students' attitude toward AI, verifying its central position as driving psychological factor for adherence to new technologies and reduction of anxiety in dealing with smart technologies. The study suggested that cultivating student’s self-motivation in P.E./sports science colleges should be implemented as an effective way to promote students' positive attitudes toward AI and its mindful educational application. The study suggests to take away from the project psychological and pedagogical focus programs on self motivatio n development, which would help to increase students’ psychological and technological culture of readiness for modern educational requirements of a sports job market.
