Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the administrative behavior competencies of volleyball coaches from the players’ perspective and to determine their competency levels across different domains. The descriptive survey method was adopted to suit the nature of the research problem. The study population consisted of 55 volleyball players from clubs in the Middle Euphrates region during the 2023-2024 sports season. The Administrative Behavior Competency Scale designed by Haider Zughair, comprising 90 items, was adopted and standardized. The scale demonstrated high reliability (r = 0.89), along with confirmed validity and objectivity. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS version 16. The results revealed five competency levels: very good, good, moderate, acceptable, and weak. Findings indicated that 37.5% of players rated their coaches at a very good level, 25% at a good level, 17.5% at a moderate level, 12.5% at an acceptable level, and 7.5% at a weak level. The majority of coaches demonstrated high levels of administrative behavior competencies, particularly in leadership, decision-making, ethical conduct, and interpersonal relationships. However, some weaknesses were identified in organizational practices and communication skills among certain coaches. The study concludes that the adopted scale is effective in assessing administrative behavior competencies and highlights the importance of strengthening these competencies through training and professional development programs to enhance coaching performance and team success.
