Abstract

Efficient hospital bed allocation remains a critical challenge in healthcare systems, particularly in government hospitals of developing countries, due to increasing patient demand, limited healthcare resources, and uncertainty in patient arrivals and length of stay. In public sector hospitals, inefficient bed allocation frequently results in overcrowding, extended waiting times, and a decline in the quality of patient care. These issues are further aggravated in developing countries where resource constraints and high patient inflow place additional pressure on hospital infrastructure. Queuing theory offers a robust mathematical framework for analyzing patient flow and assessing bed utilization under stochastic conditions, thereby supporting improved planning and management of hospital bed resources in government healthcare settings.
