Abstract

Life skills play a crucial role in enabling women to achieve social and psychological empowerment in a diverse and complex society like India. The present study examines how the development of essential life skills contributes to enhancing women’s self-confidence, decision-making ability, emotional stability, and social participation. Life skills such as effective communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, self-awareness, and stress management equip women to cope with personal, familial, and societal challenges more effectively. Psychological empowerment through life skills fosters self-esteem, autonomy, and resilience, while social empowerment enables women to actively engage in community life, leadership roles, and economic activities. In the Indian context, where women often face gender-based discrimination, limited access to resources, and social constraints, life skills education emerges as a transformative tool for empowerment. The study highlights the importance of integrating life skills training into educational programs, community initiatives, and policy frameworks to promote inclusive development and gender equality in India.
