Abstract

Thyroid dysfunction, primarily hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, has emerged as a global endocrine challenge, often requiring lifelong medication. Conventional treatments primarily focus on hormone replacement or suppression, often neglecting the underlying metabolic and psychological triggers. This review synthesizes current clinical evidence regarding the role of Yogasana (postural yoga) and Ayurvedic dietary interventions (Ahara) as complementary therapies. Evidence suggests that specific inversions and throat-compressing asanas improve glandular vascularity, while Ayurvedic nutritional protocols restore metabolic fire (Agni). The integration of these traditional systems offers a holistic approach to modulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) axis and improving patient quality of life.
