Abstract

Background: While extensive research has focused on gestational diabetes mellitus, less is understood about maternal hypoglycemia following a 75g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). This study investigates the potential impacts of maternal hypoglycemia on both maternal and fetal outcomes. Aim and objective: To study whether maternal hypoglycemia after 75gm OGTT is associated with adverse fetal and obstetric outcomes and to study incidence of reactive hypoglycemia after 75gm OGTT. Materials and Methods: A retrospective case-control study involving 2553 antenatal women at 40 weeks was conducted over twelve months. Participants underwent a 75g OGTT (twice, first as soon as pregnancy was confirmed and second after 24 weeks of gestation) and were categorized into two groups: Normal OGTT (90-140 mg/dL) and Reactive Hypoglycemia (
