Abstract

Background: A comprehensive clinical and pathological evaluation is necessary to rule out cancer as the cause and guarantee a benign pathology because postmenopausal bleeding is typically seen as a warning sign of genital diseases. The purpose of this study is to determine whether clinical diagnosis and ultrasonographic characteristics can be trustworthy criteria for the diagnosis of causes and whether the results match reports from histology. Materials and Methods: This observational study included 80 postmenopausal women who presented with hemorrhage. A thorough history and clinical examination were conducted. Every single patient underwent transvaginal ultrasonography. Biopsies were performed on patients with clinically noticeable cervix and vulva lesions, fractional curettage was performed on the remaining patients, and the sample was sent for histological analysis. Lastly, the results of the ultrasound and clinical examinations were compared with the histopathological report. Results: Healthy cervix (76.3%), healthy vagina (95%), and normal uterus (58.7%) were the most often observed cervical, vaginal, and uterine findings on physical examination. The most common cervical and uterine results on USG examination were a normal uterus (41.3%) and a normal cervix (71.3%), with the most common ET being 47mm (75%). The most frequent Pap smear results were negative for inflammation (41.3%) and malignancy (47.5%). Premalignant lesions (5%), malignant lesions (10%), and benign lesions (85%) were the most frequent findings on endometrial biopsies. According to the results of cervical and endometrial biopsies, growing older was substantially linked to both pre-malignant and malignant lesions (p
