Abstract

The rise of African Christian initiatives reflects efforts to recontextualize inherited traditions, incorporating African cultures and addressing the needs of marginalized communities. The engagement between scripture, African cultures, and social challenges is evident in various expressions, including the emphasis on revelation through dreams and visions, complex rituals, and the integration of traditional African practices with Christian worship. The chapter also addresses the theme of “double missionary vision,” where Christian missions have sometimes been complicit in unjust systems, while also recognizing instances of Christian figures challenging oppression and advocating for justice
