Mainland China (Protestant)
Abstract
The Protestant Church in mainland China has experienced significant growth and transformation since its reemergence in the late 1970s. The establishment of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM) marked a turning point in creating an independent Chinese church free from foreign control. Economic growth and government policies recognizing religious freedom have contributed to the church's expansion and increasing social engagement. The church faces challenges, including a shortage of trained clergy, the influence of foreign groups, and the need for further theological development to address contemporary issues.
