Abstract

The Christian church in Malaysia has experienced significant growth since World War II, particularly among indigenous communities in East Malaysia. The church exhibits diversity in denominations and theological orientations, reflecting influences from Western missions, the Charismatic movement, and the unique cultural contexts of different ethnic groups. Restrictions on religious expression, coupled with societal pressures to conform to Islamic norms, create an environment of marginalization and anxiety for Christians. Nevertheless, the church remains resilient, demonstrating a commitment to ecumenism, social engagement, and navigating the complexities of interfaith relations within a pluralistic society.
