The Philippines
Abstract
The contemporary religious landscape of the Philippines is characterized by a diverse and dynamic Christianity, marked by the rise of militant and global Christian groups. Their global reach extends beyond Filipino migrant communities, engaging in ambitious missionary activities aimed at converting people of other nationalities. While Catholicism remains the dominant religion, its influence in the public sphere has waned, attributed in part to declining Mass attendance, and the perceived lack of credibility and disconnect from contemporary social realities among some of its leaders. This shift in the religious landscape highlights the growing assertiveness of non-Catholic Christian groups and raises questions about the future of religious influence in Philippine society.
