Abstract

Independent churches, encompassing congregations unaffiliated with major Christian denominations, present a complex category within the religious landscape of East and Southeast Asia. While the term "Independent" serves as a broad classification, it is often met with reluctance as many churches within this category strive to align themselves with established Protestant traditions. Despite the challenges in defining and categorizing Independent churches, their presence and influence contribute significantly to the diverse and evolving tapestry of Christianity in East and Southeast Asia.
