Evangelicals
Abstract
Evangelical Christianity in East and Southeast Asia has experienced significant growth since the 1970s, fueled by factors such as Western missions, indigenous movements, and the rise of Pentecostalism. This growth is particularly evident in countries like South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, and the Philippines. Theological education has played a crucial role in the development of Asian evangelicalism, with institutions like the Asian Theological Association providing training for pastors and lay leaders. The future of evangelical Christianity in East and Southeast Asia depends on contextualizing its message, engaging with other religions, fostering resilient leadership, and adapting to the diverse cultural and religious landscape of the region.
