Gender
Abstract
Gender ideologies in certain regions of Asia are heavily influenced by cultural and religious norms, particularly Confucianism and Catholicism. These ideologies often reinforce traditional gender roles and expectations, emphasizing female obedience and subservience to male authority. Feminist theologians in these regions challenge these ideologies, critiquing the concept of "feminine genius" and its essentialist and regulatory effects on women's lives. Efforts to promote gender equality within Christianity in Asia involve challenging traditional norms, engaging in interfaith dialogue, and advocating for social justice.
