Infraestructura de hidrocarburos y crecimiento económico en México: un análisis espacial, 1982-2021
Abstract
The objective of this article is to analyze the impact of hydrocarbon infrastructure on the economic growth of the federal entities of Mexico between 1982 and 2021. To this end, a spatial panel model with fixed effects was estimated, incorporating variables related to production and refining, storage, pipeline transport, and service stations. The results show that production and refining capacity is positively associated with economic growth and generates spatial spillover effects across entities. However, the relatively low magnitude of the coefficients suggests that the existing infrastructure is insufficient to generate significant impacts. The main limitation was data availability by variable and federal entity. The study concludes that increased investment, coupled with efficient resource usage and technological development, could drive national and regional growth.
