THE ACUTE EFFECT OF LOWER BODY ACTIVATION WITH MINI-BANDS ON JUMP HEIGHT IN FEMALE BASKETBALL PLAYERS
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the acute effects of a mini-band PAPE protocol on CMJ height in female basketball players and to determine whether this effect varies across different playing positions. Twenty-one female basketball players who regularly trained and participated in official competitions recruited in the study. The participants were tested in three separate sessions: familiarization, baseline (pre-test), and post-test following mini-band PAPE. The mini-band PAPE protocol consisted of five different exercises targeting the hip muscles, each performed in two sets. After a four-minute rest interval following the PAPE protocol, participants were given three attempts, and their highest jump height was recorded. A statistically significant improvement in CMJ height was observed after the mini-band PAPE protocol (p=0.036). Position-based analyses revealed significant improvement only in guard players (p=0.035). These findings indicate that mini-band protocols can acutely enhance CMJ height in female basketball players, although the magnitude of this effect remains small. Moreover, the effect appears to vary by playing position. Activation with mini-band can be used as a practical warm-up strategy in field settings due to their minimal equipment requirements and time efficiency. Future studies are recommended to investigate different mini-band resistance levels and long-term applications.
