Abstract

Solutions with NaCl and Na2SO4 mixture simulating 3 real industrial RO waste brines were treated by membrane crystallization (MCr) with the aim to recover the ions as crystals. In particular, the 3 different solutions have NaCl and Na2SO4 molar ratio of 1:2, 2:1 and 1:1. Experiments at two different feed temperatures were performed and analyzed. Results show that the separation of NaCl and Na2SO4 mixture can be realized by adjusting feed temperature and the molar ratio of NaCl and Na2SO4. Under different feed temperature, the recovery rate of the Na2SO4 salts was 48.51%, 39.83% and 31.67%, from the 1:2, 2:1, and 1:1 solutions, respectively.
