On the state of vaccination of children in the first year of life within the framework of the national calendar of preventive vaccinations
Abstract
In Russia, as part of the national preventive vaccination calendar (NCPP), children in the first year of life receive vaccinations against tuberculosis, hepatitis B (HBV), diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hemophilic, pneumococcal infection, and polio. According to official statistics, the coverage of vaccinations against the above infections in the country is 95 % or higher, which should ensure the control of morbidity in the population. Nevertheless, in children under one year of age, not only morbidity is recorded, including high rates, but deaths from vaccine-controlled infections are also noted. Non-compliance with the NCPP has been established when vaccinating children under one year of age. The coverage of HBV and tuberculosis vaccinations in the maternity hospital in 2019–2024 was less than 90 % and less than 50 % in the pediatric area against whooping cough, hemophilic infection, HBV. A decrease in the coverage of preventive vaccinations in the maternity hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic has been established. The aim is to evaluate the coverage and timeliness of immunization against hemophilic infection, whooping cough, tuberculosis, and HBV in children under one year of age in 2022–2024 in the maternity hospital and pediatric area, including during the COVID — 19 pandemic. The materials for the study were the official statistical observation forms of the Russian Federation for 2019–2024. The indicators of vaccination coverage at 12 months against whooping cough, HBV (including in the first 24 hours), hemophilic infection and at 30 days against tuberculosis were analyzed. The assessment of the timeliness of immunization of children under the age of 1 year using personalized registration forms and the analysis of the incidence of whooping cough, hemophilic infection, tuberculosis, HBV (0/000) were carried out. Non-compliance with the deadlines for preventive vaccinations established by the NCPP in children under one year of age was revealed. The coverage of vaccinations against HBV and tuberculosis in the maternity hospital in 2019–2024 was less than 90 %, in the pediatric area less than 50 % against whooping cough, hemophilic infection, HBV. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the coverage of newborns with vaccinations in the maternity hospital has been established. A change in the approach to assessing the coverage of preventive vaccinations within the NCPP is required.
