Abstract

This article examines the evolution of digitalization approaches at Russian industrial enterprises in the context of import substitution and growing demands for production transparency. The emphasis shifts from local automation to the strategic implementation of product lifecycle management (PLM) and product data management (PDM) systems. Based on expert analysis, key operational challenges hindering development are identified: versioned data chaos, lack of managed engineering change processes, duplication of information, and manual labor, leading to increased defects and costs. A phased transition to digital transformation through the implementation of PDM systems is proposed as a solution. These systems create a unified and reliable environment for engineering data management. Using the 1C:PDM Engineering Data Management 4 platform as an example, this paper demonstrates how PDM helps bridge information gaps between design, engineering, and production departments.
