Effectiveness of heterogeneous mating in the improvement of sheep of Manych merino breed

The objective of this research was to carry out a comprehensive evaluation of young sheep of Manych merino breed taking into account the quantitative and qualitative indicators of wool productivity using breeding rams from the 815 and 214 genealogical lines of Manych Merino breed, and inter-farm mating with rams from the breeding farm “Manych” of the same breed. The Breeding farm and Collective farm named after Lenin in the Apanasenkovsky District of Stavropol Territory is the originator of the finewool sheep of Manych merino breed. Breeding work is being conducted on animals of the Manych merino breeding farm type and its main genealogical lines such as 815 and 214, and crosses between them are being evaluated. By combining purebred breeding methods and various technological approaches, ways are being developed to improve the level and nature of all types of sheep productivity. In our research we set the task of studying the combining capabilities of using genealogical lines 815 and 214 of the Manych farm type of Manych merino breed in comparison with the off spring of rams of the same breed, but from a different breeding farms, i.e. we resorted to the technique of “blood refreshment”/ We made it due to the base on foreign experience of long-term use of genealogical lines in various branches of animal husbandry, in particular, cattle breeding, pig breeding, horse breeding,. Individual jugging and recording of wool productivity of the off spring of the Manych farm type of Manych merino breed of the lines 815 and 214, as well as young animals from inter-factory mating with breeding rams of the “Manych” breeding farm showed that the best in terms of a set of quantitative and qualitative traits such as live weight and wool productivity, general assessment of young animals, economic efficiency, were animals obtained from breeding rams of the line 815 of the Manych farm type of Manych merino breed.
