Abstract

Globalization trends shape the development vectors of society, determining the change in life-meaning orientations and goal-setting strategies in the context of the trajectories of the life path of young people. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing role of young people in shaping the global economy and the need to understand the transformation of their value attitudes under the influence of international trends. At the same time, understanding the priorities and value system of young people makes it possible to predict the socio-economic development of society and develop effective mechanisms for managing human resources — which emphasizes the need to study the value orientations of the younger generation. The article presents the results of a study aimed at analyzing the hierarchy of value orientations of modern youth and identifying factors that determine the characteristics of youth’s perception of spiritual and moral content in social networks. The research methodology was based on the application of M. Rokich’s value orientations methodology, which makes it possible to determine both terminal (target) and instrumental values of respondents. The study included 30 respondents-representatives of the social group of young residents of Moscow (18–35 years old). The results of the study demonstrate a distinct shift in the priorities and system of value orientations of young people: the predominance of individualistic values over collectivist ones, the strengthening of the importance of personal success and professional self-realization while maintaining the importance of socio-integrative components, social connections and communication skills. The values of friendship, active life and health are prioritized for the young audience, but there is a relatively low level of emphasis on the altruistic and sociocentric aspects of life. A stable differentiation between practical, specifically directed values and abstract attitudes was revealed, while the system of instrumental values is built around the communicative potential of the individual and the desire for self-affirmation. The study demonstrates the need for an integrated approach to the formation of value orientations of young people, taking into account the characteristics of their development, as well as local and global trends in the development of society.
