Abstract

China COSCO Shipping Cor., Ltd. He is an example of an industry leader whose market position is based on scaling innovation and effective management of technological assets. This is confirmed by the annual revenue from the supply chain business, which reached almost 391.06 billion yuan in 2022. A significant economic gap from competitors (almost one and a half times higher than that of the company in second place) indicates the high competitiveness and successful commercialization of its innovative business model. The foundation of this leadership is a large-scale innovation infrastructure. As of the end of 2023, the company’s total technological fleet consisted of 1,417 vessels with a total capacity of 116 million tons, which ensures its fi rst place in the world. The diversification of this strategic asset is reflected in leadership in key segments: the container fleet (3.05 million TEU, fourth in the world), the dry cargo fleet (436 ships, first place), the tanker fleet (229 ships, first place), as well as the fleet for general and special cargo (180 ships, fi rst place), which forms an unsurpassed global technology offering. The company’s innovative potential is also supported by onshore assets. The annual capacity of container terminals, reaching 133 million TEU, ensures its first place in the world and control over key nodes of global supply chains. Vertical integration as an element of the innovation strategy is manifested in global leadership in marine fuel sales (over 29.99 million tons), as well as in strong positions in related high-tech industries: container production (design capacity of 1.4 million TEU, second in the world) and their leasing (3.80 million TEU, third in the world). This allows the company to control the entire value chain and implement end-to-end technological innovations.
