A bibliometric analysis of traditional project management methods and comparative insights with agile approaches
Abstract
This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of traditional Project Management methods, exploring key differences between traditional and agile approaches, the role of project managers, and leadership styles. It offers valuable insights into project management literature, using a systematic review process to gather data. Brazil emerges as a leading contributor to research on traditional project management, with a Brazilian journal being the primary publication source. The study highlights a lack of a single, dominant author in the field, instead revealing a wide range of contributors. One key finding is that agile project management focuses on flexibility and customer needs, while traditional methods emphasize detailed planning. The study's implications suggest that both researchers and practitioners can benefit from this analysis by making more informed decisions when selecting suitable project management methods, particularly in distinguishing between traditional and agile frameworks.
