Interference Coupling Characteristics and Suppression of High-Power EMP for Satellite Power Systems
Abstract
The transient intense high-power electromagnetic pulse radiation in space can have a serious impact on the normal operation of in-orbit satellites. Especially for satellite electrical power systems (EPSs), electromagnetic pulses will be coupled to the power condition unit inside the satellite cabin through external solar arrays, leading to serious electromagnetic interference (EMI) problems in the satellite EPSs. In order to analyze the coupling degree of electromagnetic pulse interference on satellite power systems, an EMI experiment system for satellite EPSs was established and interference voltage levels both on the input and output ports of the power controller under severe electromagnetic pulse interference were obtained. The overvoltage of the output bus can reach 500 V, and the interference frequency exceeds 10 MHz, and the coupling characteristics of EMI have been verified through a simulation analysis system. Furthermore, an electromagnetic pulse interference suppression technique based on an isolation transformer with deep EMI suppression together with a novel discrete winding transformer LLC resonant converter was proposed to address the EMI coupling characteristics of satellite EPSs. An electromagnetic pulse interference suppression performance experiment was conducted on the core component of this suppression measure, namely, the novel deep suppression isolation transformer, and it was proved that with the anti-electromagnetic pulse method, the EMI level of the satellite power system could be suppressed effectively, and the shielding effectiveness of electromagnetic pulse was up to 56 dB.
