PREVALENCE OF DENTAL CARIES AND PERIODONTAL HEALTH STATUS IN HEMOPHILIAC PATIENTS OF AKOLA DISTRICT
Abstract
Hemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder that significantly affects various aspects of a patient's health, including oral hygiene, due to the increased risk of bleeding from routine activities such as tooth brushing. This often leads to neglect of oral care, making hemophiliac individuals particularly vulnerable to dental caries and periodontal disease. The present study aims to assess the prevalence of dental caries and the periodontal health status of hemophiliac patients in the Akola district, focusing on individuals registered with the Hemophilia Society, Akola.Through clinical examination and analysis, the study reveals a high prevalence of dental and periodontal issues among the patients, highlighting the urgent need for preventive dental care, early intervention, and increased awareness among caregivers and healthcare providers. These findings underscore the importance of integrating dental health management into Shilpa Hosallimath, Rajeev V Solapur https://iaeme.com/Home/journal/IJDENT 2
