SYNERGISTIC PERFORMANCE OF GROUND GRANULATED BLAST FURNACE SLAG AND RECYCLED GRANITE WASTE IN SUSTAINABLE M35 CONCRETE PAVING COMPOSITES
Abstract
Granite waste, a non-biodegradable construction and demolition waste, is disposed in high volumes leading to massive accumulation in landfills. Also, granite dust contains respirable crystalline silica (RCS) which are harmful to human health when respired. The recycling of granite waste into paver block aggregates can potentially reduce its environmental burden. The current study evaluates the performance of dualreplacement approach in the manufacturing of M35 grade concrete paver blocks. The study investigates the replacement of 20% of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) with Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) and the substitution of 20% of natural coarse aggregates with recycled granite waste. The mechanical behaviour of modified paver blocks was then evaluated by performing compressive and split tensile strength, and
