Dibujo y Juego. Sensibilidades colectivas en la crisis ecológica
Abstract
This text addresses the connection between art and design, in their causal and aesthetic dimensions, with the various socio-environmental crises of today.Specifically, in this case study, drawing functions as a way to reconnect with deep memories of a humanity that, through the Westernization of modern progressive thought, increasingly loses the notion of the interdependent relationships that, in the mutual responsibility of the fertile continuum, enable the weaving of cycles of death and rebirth within a living cosmos.Anthropocentrism, in its ontological separation of human and nature, individual and community, among other dualisms, hierarchizes the human dimension and encloses itself within its epistemology, perpetuating narratives that, even from a scientistic discourse, stifle the imagination of other possible worlds and lead to inaction toward change, encouraging participation solely in sustaining the economy. An art and design approach rooted in ecological perspectives transforms these dichotomies by proposing, through the collectivisation of sensibilities, other space-times that embrace the multiplicity of existences cohabiting the biosphere and its possible futures, confronting outdated models that foster a culture of disposability.Sequential art allows for relationships within this becoming-with, establishing dialogue between drawings and words through narrative. In this way, drawing signifies a primordial contact with spontaneous experience, transforming mechanistic thinking and reconnecting with an ancestral memory of play and creation.Rather than focusing on fear of the future, this approach proposes redesigning our relationship with the environment through learning and storytelling, toward a present of mutual accompaniment and responsibility-one that is more equitable, biodiverse, and sensitive.
