Abstract
This study analyzes the psychological determinants of abusive behavior in interpersonal relationships. The theoretical framework was based on the dispositional concept of the "Dark" (Machiavellianism, narcissism, psychopathy) and "Light" (humanism, faith in humanity, faith in kindness) personality triads. The aim of the work was to identify the relationships between these traits and manipulative behavior. The study involved 72 psychology students. The results fully confirmed the hypotheses. Traits of the "Dark Triad" showed statistically significant positive links with a propensity for abusive behavior. In contrast, traits of the "Light Triad" demonstrated a pronounced negative correlation pattern, acting as a protective buffer. The strongest predictors of emotional abuse were psychopathy and Machiavellianism. The obtained data suggest that the development of "Light" personality traits could be a promising direction for the prevention of abusive behavior.
