Pensamiento geométrico espacial: estrategias y recursos empleados por docentes de matemáticas
Abstract
The teaching of geometry faces recurring challenges that reveal a lack of coherence between curricular guidelines and classroom practices, which limits the achievement of expected learning outcomes. To address this issue, the objective of the study was to identify the strategies and resources used by mathematics teachers to strengthen spatial geometric thinking in basic and secondary education in Colombia. A qualitative, descriptive approach was adopted, applying semi-structured interviews and content analysis with five experienced teachers. The main findings highlight the integration of practical strategies—such as workshops, hands-on activities, the use of the environment, and textual organizers—with both physical and digital resources, particularly concrete materials and tools like GeoGebra. This combination enhances student motivation and facilitates the understanding of geometric concepts through experimentation and active knowledge construction. In conclusion, the study confirms that the articulation of pedagogical strategies with diverse educational resources not only fosters the development of spatial geometric thinking but also strengthens creativity, problem-solving skills, and the application of knowledge in everyday contexts.
