Abstract

Traditional stationary solar panels often experience reduced efficiency due to their fixed orientation, particularly during early morning and late afternoon hours.Although solar tracking systems enhance energy capture, their adoption is often limited by high costs, mechanical complexity, and energy consumption. This work presents an innovative, biologically inspired dual-axis solar tracking system-modeled after a sunflower-which addresses these limitations while promoting environmental sustainability and climate action. The proposed system employs an Arduino Nano microcontroller, five Light Dependent Resistors (LDRs), and two servo motors to autonomously track the sun and adjust the solar panel's position in real time.Experimental analysis conducted between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM demonstrates significantly higher energy output compared to conventional stationary panels.By maximizing solar energy utilization, the system reduces dependency on fossil fuels, lowers carbon emissions, and supports clean energy generation. Its cost-effective and scalable design makes it a viable solution for sustainable energy deployment, especially in off-grid and environmentally sensitive regions. This work contributes directly to climate action goals by enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of renewable energy technologies.
