Design and Development of Parabolic Trough Solar Collector for Air Heating Using Phase Change Material as Heat Storage Module
Abstract
Thermal Energy Storage is a need for the energy scarcity. Now a days TES systems are gaining more attention to fulfil the energy demand. Many research work has been carried out in the area of TES system to utilized the energy effectively. Thermal energy such as solar energy is a green source of energy which can be utilized and stored effectively by STS System. STS is a better choice for replacing the conventional energy system for pollution free environment. In research studies PCMs emerged as a thermal storage in the form of latent heat. Thus, Phase change material can used in solar thermal system act as LHS which stored the heat and further used when unavailability of solar intensity. Phase change materials having an ability to store and discharge large amount of heat but having poor thermal conductivity. The aim of this research is to design and develop the solar system for utilized and stored the energy by using paraffin wax as phase change material. A PTSC is designed and developed for air heating application in which the design of receiver is proposed for heat storage and to overcome the low thermal conductivity of phase change material
