Abstract

This essay explores philosophical aspects of Science Fiction based on the prologue of Hannah Arendt’s “The Human Condition”. In dialogue with Heidegger and Prigogine/Stengers, it reflects on modern emancipation and the rejection of the Earth and the creator God. Science Fiction is seen as a form of liberation from Fantasy, with man as an explorer of nature. It discusses technological alienation and the transition from mythical fantasy to scientific narratives, comparing Odysseus’ journey with “2001: A Space Odyssey”.
