Abstract

This study mainly aimed to develop a virtual simulation technology instructional model to enhance the students’ learning satisfaction and motivation among fashion design students at the public universities in Hunan Province, China. The research applied the systematic literature review, expert validation, and empirical research methods, with data collected through questionnaires and interviews. The study first analyzed the students’ perceptions of virtual simulation technology instruction, and the results indicated that their attitudes towards this instruction were very positive and supportive, particularly regarding the interactivity and practicality of the technology. Then, the study explored the factors of using virtual simulation technology in classroom instruction. A virtual simulation technology instructional model mainly emphasizing curriculum consistency, instructional strategies, and student engagement was proposed and implemented at one of the public universities. The key characteristics of this research model are closed-loop iteration, sequential progression, cyclical cycles, structural simplicity, and spiral evolution. Finally, this study discussed and provided the recommendation for the fashion design instructors and university policy-makers, especially a viable path and reference for instructional model transformation and innovation in fashion design education.
