A SURVEY ON THE CURRENT SITUATION AND DEVELOPMENT PATH CONSTRUCTION OF CAREER PLANNING FOR CHINESE LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE EDUCATION MAJORS AT ZHAOQING UNIVERSITY
Abstract
In this study, a questionnaire survey and structured interviews were conducted to investigate the Chinese Language and Literature (Normal) major at Zhaoqing University and to explore the current situation and existing issues in career planning. The questionnaire design is based on career development theory and the adaptation model, including seven dimensions: self-awareness, career planning and awareness, career exploration, planning, supervision and management goals, self-improvement, and interpersonal relationships. This study distributed a total of 320 questionnaires using stratified sampling to ensure a balanced distribution among all grades. Interviews were conducted with 12 students in three main areas: planning and preparation, planning and work abilities, and planning management, including 11 open-ended questions to provide insights and third-party questionnaire data. This study reveals deficiencies in students' career planning, manifested in the separation of consciousness and action, utilitarian career goals and exploration, and a lack of supervision and management methods. Comparative analysis shows that gender and grade level have a significant impact on career planning: girls outperform boys in self-awareness, planning goals, and interpersonal skills. Due to the pressure of teaching practice and job preparation, third-grade students exhibit more active career exploration and self-management. Based on the research results, this article points out that higher education institutions should improve the vocational education system, professional characteristics, and practical guidance; strengthen curriculum construction; support teachers to guide students to improve their self-planning ability; help them cope with labor market challenges; and achieve sustainable development.
