Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Kampung Iklim (PROKLIM) Program in improving the community’s economy in Sangurejo Hamlet, Turi Sub-District, Sleman Regency. PROKLIM is a community-based environmental program designed to promote mitigation, adaptation, and responses to climate change at the hamlet or village level. The program includes various activities such as waste management through the sorting and processing of organic waste into marketable handicrafts, tree planting to reduce CO₂ emissions and improve air quality, the utilization of home gardens for fruit and vegetable cultivation to support household income, and the use of other locally available natural resources. The effectiveness of PROKLIM is reflected in the extent to which these activities generate tangible economic benefits for the community, particularly through organic agriculture, the transformation of waste into economically valuable products, and the adoption of renewable energy to reduce household expenses. The program also encourages the community to act not only as beneficiaries but also as key actors in developing local innovations that strengthen economic self-reliance. This study employs Budiani’s (2020) Effectiveness Theory, which consists of four indicators: target accuracy, program socialization, program objectives, and program monitoring. A descriptive qualitative method was used, with data collected through interviews, field observations, and document analysis related to the PROKLIM Program.
