Improvement of CO 2 desorption rate from CO 2 loaded TEA solution at low temperature using sonication combined with CO 2 bubbling
Abstract
Abstract The acceleration of CO 2 desorption from CO 2 loaded triethanolamine (TEA) solutions at a low temperature (21 °C) was investigated by combining ultrasound irradiation with CO 2 bubbling. While ultrasound promotes desorption, the rate typically decreases as the loaded CO 2 concentration drops. It was hypothesized that CO 2 inflow into tertiary amine solution, TEA, would maintain bubble nucleation, thereby enhancing desorption efficiency despite the reduced CO 2 concentration. The combination of sonication and CO 2 bubbling (100 ml min −1 ) achieved 30% desorption ratio in 50 min, whereas sonication alone required 150 min. This method significantly improves the desorption rate of TEA solution at room temperature.
