Abstract

This paper presents a preliminary design study of a Jetwing system, a compact single occupant body mounted flight platform intended for ultra rapid medical first response in remote and inaccessible terrain where conventional ground vehicles and helicopters face operational constraints. The Jetwing is sized for a maximum operating mass of 140 kg, including pilot, structure and payload, and is designed to provide a 20 km effective coverage radius, operation up to 3000 m altitude, and carriage of essential medical and communication equipment. The study establishes top level mission and performance requirements, applies low fidelity analytical methods and published engineering data to estimate weight, propulsion, and range, and uses iterative trade studies to evaluate the coupled effects of payload, endurance, and altitude capability on system feasibility. Regulatory classification under FAA experimental categories and the techno-commercial potential of enabling rapid on scene medical intervention in otherwise inaccessible environments are also discussed.
