O migrante como metáfora
Abstract
The object of study of this article is Islamophobia in international migration during the first administration of Donald John Trump in the United States of America, between 2017 and 2021. A qualitative methodology, guided by Critical Discourse Analysis, is used to understand the effects of the operationalization of Islamophobia in the migration guidelines implemented during Donald J. Trump's first term in the USA. It is based on the premise that Islamophobia is a discourse based on a metaphorical resource for constituting Muslim otherness that varies according to the socio-historical context and the interests of the agents. Its purpose is to maintain an exercise of asymmetrical power, which denies a condition of full agency to the subordinated subject, represented by the Muslim migrant.
