Effect of Metronidazole on Local Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) Spleen Over One toTwo Months
Abstract
The rabbit spleen is located adjacent to the greater curvature of the stomach on the left side ofthe abdominal cavity, appearing as a tongue-like, elongated organ. This study investigated the effectsof Metronidazole at a dose of 500 mg/kg administered over one to two months. Histopathologicalanalysis revealed that low to moderate doses induced hyperemia and congestion in the splenic venoussinuses, along with proliferation of white pulp and increased lymphocyte cellularity. In contrast, highdoses caused necrotic changes in both red and white pulps, with necrotic foci evident in histologicalsections.
