BIBLIOTECAS EPETIANAS E UNIVERSITÁRIAS PÚBLICAS FEDERAIS NO TRIÂNGULO MINEIRO:

The library is na importante institution for the development of society because of it’s role of both holder and disseminator of information, offering support through Reading, disseminating information, subsidizing formal education and developing permanente education, besides contributing with research and extension. In this perspective, aiming to understand the singularities and characterization of the Federal Institute’s libraries, in this study were named Epetianas. This article’s objective is to verify differences and similarities between Epetianas libraries and Federal Public Universitiy libraries in the Triângulo Mineiro region. It is outlined in the following methodological procedures, bibliographical and documentary research. The results showed differences between the Epetianas and University libraries in the following questions: physical space, collection, specific services, accessibility and users. There are similarities in the following questions: opening hours, staff, collection, basic services and management software. It is concluded that the difference of Epetianas libraries and University libraries it is public in the division of age groups and the levels of information needs, for professionalization and for intellectual development and its similarities lie in their fundamental role in the dissemination and availability of information related to educational, research and outreach activities to the community and society as a whole.
