Abstract

The article presents a study of the problem of forming the spiritual culture of higher education students in the context of modern socio-cultural challenges, such as globalization, information overload and the crisis of traditional value systems. The relevance of this problem is exacerbated in the context of the struggle for national identity, which requires the educational system to adopt new approaches to educating a conscious citizen. The author emphasizes that vocal-performing training, which often focuses on purely technical aspects, has a significant but insufficiently realized potential for spiritual enrichment and value self-determination of the individual. Accordingly, the purpose of the article is to theoretically substantiate and model the process of forming students’ spiritual culture by means of hermeneutically oriented interpretation of vocal works. The methodological basis of the study was a synthesis of systemic, culturological, axiological and hermeneutic approaches. Thus, the systemic approach allowed us to consider spiritual culture as an integrative quality of the personality, the culturological approach allowed us to analyze vocal works as artifacts that carry the value codes of the era and nation, and the leading hermeneutic approach treats interpretation as a deep process of «dialogu» with the work and its author. The article reveals in detail the essence of spiritual culture as a multi-component system that organically combines a cognitive component (a system of knowledge about the values of world and national heritage), an emotional-value component (the ability to empathize, the formation of value orientations and personal attitude to artistic content) and a creative-activity component (the need and ability for creative self-expression and the embodiment of one’s own worldview). The central element of the study is a model of the process of interpreting a vocal work, organized as a purposeful pedagogical activity in three interconnected stages. The first, analytical-cognitive stage, is aimed at forming deep knowledge about the musical and poetic text, historical and cultural context, which creates a foundation for further comprehension. The next, emotional-value stage, provides a transition from knowledge to personal meanings through emotional immersion and value reflection, as a result of which the student "appropriates" the artistic content of the work. The final, creative-activity stage is a synthesis of the previous ones and is implemented through the creative embodiment of a unique performing idea, which contributes to the development of artistic freedom and the need for spiritual self-expression. Based on this, it is concluded that the interpretation of a vocal work, organized as a holistic process of co-creation, is transformed from an educational task into a powerful mechanism for the formation of spiritual culture, contributing to the education of not just a vocalist-technician, but an artist-thinker with an active value position. Prospects for further research are seen in the development of specific methodological recommendations, educational cases and valid diagnostic tools for assessing the levels of formation of the components of spiritual culture, which will allow the effective implementation of the proposed model in the educational practice of institutions of higher art education.
