Changing Dynamics Between Broadcast TV News Channels and Web News Channels: A Systematic Review
Abstract
This paper explores the shifting dynamics between traditional broadcast TV news channels and web-based news platforms. The rise of digital media, fuelled by internet penetration and the proliferation of smartphones, has created significant challenges for legacy media outlets, which have dominated news consumption for decades. These papers examine the existing literature on content strategies, technological advancements, and the evolving perceptions of credibility between these two types of news media. The findings indicate that certain demographics still value broadcast TV news, but web news channels are becoming more popular due to their immediacy, diversity of perspectives, and user interaction. This research explores the changing relationship between broadcast TV news channels and web-based news platforms over time. It also examines the strategies employed by TV news channels to monetise their presence on new media platforms, highlighting the blending of these two formats to create a more integrated media environment.
