Abstract

This work presents a case study of a fuel logistics terminal to propose improvements to its integrated water treatment system. Currently, sanitary water is treated in an anaerobic biodigester, while rainwater and oily water are treated in an API separator. After treatment, they are discharged into the drainage system with no apparent reuse. The study analyzed the operating conditions of the facilities and proposes an update to the system to allow for the use of this water in fire suppression. Additionally, the installation of a skimmer is suggested for the recovery of oils, grease, and other contaminants, as well as a hydraulic system designed to prevent ignition risks. The implementation of these measures will promote the sustainable use of water resources, reducing the costs of potable water consumption and contributing to the operational safety of the terminal by guaranteeing an additional water source for firefighting.
